Calling all students, invest in your Clarkson future! Clarkson University Student Association (CUSA) passed a resolution last semester to commit additional money from each student to a new Improvement Fee as part of the students' Activities Fee. Through the use of this Improvement Fee, CUSA has taken the initiative to request from Clarkson and the Board of Trustees that a true Student Center be built.

Almost every college student today has either a Facebook or MySpace account, and some even have both. In hopes of reaching this younger generation, known for having the lowest voter turnout, many politicians have started using these websites to get their name out to voters.

WTSC 91.1 The Source, Clarkson's radio station, interviewed President Collins this past Monday. He started with an update on the various campus renovation ideas and their progress.
Renovations to Walker Center are progressing; right now the administration is in the process of getting a request for a proposal, one part of the paperwork they must go through for everything.

Saturday, February 17, was a rough night for many students on campus. Many were sick all night and into Sunday afternoon. Symptoms included vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea. About forty cases were in Hamlin-Powers alone. Some students had to be taken to the Emergency Room at Canton-Potsdam Hospital for dehydration and other problems associated with continuous vomiting.

Kenneth D. Visser, associate professor of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering at Clarkson University, likes to work with air. From teaching undergraduate aircraft design and developing devices to reduce drag and increase fuel efficiency on tractor trailers, to helping bring about a new generation of small wind turbines, he applies his understanding of the intricacies of air motion to modern day problems.

At the February 19, 2007, meeting of the Clarkson University Student Association, CUSA discussed the proposed student center, online voting for upcoming CUSA elections, and other potential improvements to campus.
President Greene reported that CUSA's meeting on Monday, February 26, will be held in the Petersen Board Room and will include a discussion about the student center.

The percentage of poor Americans who are living in severe poverty has reached a 32-year high, millions of working Americans are falling closer to the poverty line and the gulf between the nation's "haves" and "have-nots" continues to widen.
A McClatchy Newspapers analysis of the 2005 census figures, the latest available, found that nearly 16 million Americans are living in deep or severe poverty.
