Why did you get involved in soccer?
Meghan: "I was actually a cross country runner and it wasn't for me, so I switched to soccer.

One great thing about civil engineering is that, in the real world, almost every projects involves field work. Unfortunately, in most of our classes we never get to actually see anything outside of the classroom. However, this week two classes took field trips: the Solid Waste Management and Landfill Design class visited the Rodman Landfill, and the Water and Wastewater Treatment class went to the Potsdam water treatment plant.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar, also known as the Hijra Calendar. This year, Ramadan began on Thursday, September 13, and it will end in about 4 weeks, depending on the moon. It is when the Qur'an, the Muslim holy book, was revealed. During this holy month, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and sexual relations with their spouses.

Everybody remembers that when you used Microsoft Word, it was always Times New Roman, font size 12, and single spacing. However, the new Word 2007 has drastically changed, including a new default font of Calibri size 11 with about double spacing. Personally, I was quite attached to the old settings, but I found it incredibly hard to change the defaults.

In 1958, the sophomore class held a contest to name the next two dorms, the 'north' and 'south' wings of the Quad. Bill Armstrong '61 won the contest for the 'north' hall, calling it "Pinecrest" and Alan Havranek won for the 'south' hall, naming it "Sunset Hall.
