Amazon replaces Kindle 2 broken from a fall A law school graduate contacted Amazon after his Kindle 2 stopped working when he dropped it. Normally, Amazon and other companies charge for replacements when it is the owner's fault the damage occurred. In this case, the customer argued that, because Amazon shows the Kindle 2 falling and continuing to function in their advertisements, he had a right to expect his Kindle would survive a similar drop.
