Meanwhile, on CBS, CSI returns for a ninth season, fresh off a shocking finale in which CSI Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan) was murdered. The team is due for some changes this year as Grissom (William Petersen) is set to depart. This makes three leads that have left the show within the past year (Dourdan, Petersen, and Jorja Fox last season). Dr. Raymond Langston (Laurence Fishburne) is set to replace Grissom this season. While, Fishburne has proven himself to be a great actor in the past, the loss of Dourdon, Fox, and Petersen will be a massive blow to one of the most influential shows on television. It will be interesting to see where this season takes us.
Following CSI, CBS airs a new show, The Mentalist, at 10:00 p.m. Thus far, I have only seen one episode. The show follows a brilliant private detective, Patrick Jane (Simon Baker), that used to make a living pretending to be a psychic. The plot is certainly interesting, though the arrogance of Jane can be a bit overwhelming at times.
