Poem of the week
The Choice is in Our Hands!
Rajiv Narula
Issue date: 4/20/09 Section: Features
To be restricted to our selfish little self,
Like a dormant seed, captured in its shell,
Or, to be expansive, loving, caring,
Like a tree, always sharing,
The choice is in our hands!
To carry the burden of hate and revenge,
Making others' lives hell and our very own,
Or, to forget and forgive,
And spread peace and love,
The choice is in our hands!
To courageously bear pain that's certain in life,
Agony that nobody can escape,
Or, to suffer and increase the trauma,
Weeping and crying endlessly,
The choice is in our hands!
To lament for the past,
And worry and be scared of the future,
Or, to live life to its fullest,
Enjoying this gift called the present,
The choice is in our hands!
To be bound in our karma of virtue and sin,
Leaving footprints of our actions and deeds,
Or, to surrender and submit to the Supreme will,
Rejoicing in Hope and Faith,
The choice is in our hands!
Like a dormant seed, captured in its shell,
Or, to be expansive, loving, caring,
Like a tree, always sharing,
The choice is in our hands!
To carry the burden of hate and revenge,
Making others' lives hell and our very own,
Or, to forget and forgive,
And spread peace and love,
The choice is in our hands!
To courageously bear pain that's certain in life,
Agony that nobody can escape,
Or, to suffer and increase the trauma,
Weeping and crying endlessly,
The choice is in our hands!
To lament for the past,
And worry and be scared of the future,
Or, to live life to its fullest,
Enjoying this gift called the present,
The choice is in our hands!
To be bound in our karma of virtue and sin,
Leaving footprints of our actions and deeds,
Or, to surrender and submit to the Supreme will,
Rejoicing in Hope and Faith,
The choice is in our hands!
