Most of us have grown up watching, or at least hearing about Indiana Jones and his sensational adventures. There were some video games that attempted to do the same, such as the Tomb Raider games (ones that sparked its own series of movies). The first Uncharted game, called Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, was released to critical acclaim by many critics not only for its visual appeal, but for the amazing set pieces and story.
Even 2 years after its release, Uncharted 1 was still one of the best looking games on the market, and a fan favorite game on the PS3. It would be hard to surpass a game with such high acclaim, but Naughty Dog studios did it again. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was launched in October to a Metacritic score (consisting of 100 reviews) of 96 (out of a 100). In comparison, Grand Theft Auto 4 holds a 98 with 74 reviews. The two games, quite obviously, cannot be compared. With this information in hand, let me start my review of Uncharted 2.
Story:
The story in this game is 100% Hollywood blockbuster movies worthy. It is most definitely the most compelling and engaging story lines ever to be seen in a game. All three main characters are back in this game. Namely Sullivan (Sully), Nathan Drake (Nate) and Elyna Fisher. The story is about Nathan racing a deranged Serbian war criminal called Zoran Lazarevic to finding the Mythical Kingdom of Shambhala that holds the famed Cintamini Stone.
It takes them to Turkey, the jungles in Borneo, the Himalayas, and Shambhala itself. There are numerous plot twists, but not too overdone. Overall, the story keeps the player wanting for more. Also, it has an amazing ending that does not leave the player hanging (Halo 2 anyone?).
Visuals:
There is no two ways about it. Barring Crysis (which will probably require an $8000 PC to run on full settings), Uncharted 2 is hands down the best looking game out there. Every single element on screen is impeccably detailed. There are dark, dingy caves, and lush environments at the same time. There is one level where Drake is fighting his way through a moving train. The entire level moves through the mountains going from Jungles in the foothills, to the snowy peaks.

I hope the PS3 keeps getting more exclusives like Uncharted, so that they can finally get more people to learn how to take maximum advantage out of the PS3's processing power. (Continued…)
