A late kick at the end of the Men's Hockey game on Saturday, November 21 forced an overtime tie at Harvard University. Despite getting outshot 29-7 and finding themselves in a 0-2 hole after the first two periods of play, the Knights kept their heads up and fought back in the third.

With less than four minutes of regulation play, defenseman Bryan Rufenach led the battle by scoring on a pass from sophomore Mark Borowiecki and captain, Scott Freeman, cutting the Crimson's lead to one. Just 32 seconds later, Borowiecki picked up his second assist, along with senior Tim Marks contributing to assistant captain Matt Beca's seventh goal of the season to tie the game at two.

Again, Clarkson's Paul Karpowich kept the Golden Knights in the game by stopping a game total of 41 shots. Although it was looking grim for Clarkson after the first two periods, Karpowich again put up a first star performance.

For a second night in a row, the Knights were outshot and finished with no power play goals, but somehow Clarkson staged a miraculous comeback in the final moments of play. The Golden Knights ended with only 20 shots on goal compared to Harvard's 43 and were 0-7 on the one-man advantages.

Although Clarkson was able to slide away with a successful 3-point weekend, moving them up two spots to 10th in the ECAC, they will need to look toward improving their power play opportunities and leveling the amount of shots per game. After this past weekend, things are starting to look better for Clarkson hockey. The Knights have been more efficient with their shots than their opponents and have had enough tenacity to never give up on themselves, which has allowed them to fight back late in the games. Although the goaltending had been shaky the previous few weekends, Karpowich was definitely in his element this past weekend and allowed the Knights to secure a win and a tie.

Optimistically, Clarkson has only scratched the surface of the amount of ECAC hockey games to play this season. Clarkson is headed to Boston College the day after Thanksgiving and will look to play their rivals, St. Lawrence University, the following weekend. The Knights have now broken their slump and their away game drought. Hopefully, using this bounce-back weekend to retaliate, they will turn their season around, and return to their roots of being an ECAC force-to-be-reckoned with.
