Legacy trumps two years

There's no way around it, the Clarkson University Men's Hockey Team has had two years in a row of disappointing seasons. Whose fault is it? Coaching? Recruiting? Players? Injuries? Or maybe just bad luck? Who cares?
Quit your whining. Stop pointing fingers. As a fan and as a fellow Clarkson student and alumni, you have only one job. Open your mouth, cheer, yell, scream, and make as much noise as possible, no matter what. If you want to be a fair weather fan then go ahead, stop reading this article, show up to only the women's games (since they're currently riding high at number one in the ECAC), and then eventually return to the men's games whenever they bounce back and are at the top again.
Urbandictionary.com, the best place to get straight talk definitions, describes a fair weather fan as, "A fan of a sports team who only shows support when the team is doing well. During hard times they usually bandwagon other teams. They basically have no real loyalty to the team [emphasis added], but still manage to get better seats than you at the game. Strangely they mysteriously vanish at the first sign of trouble."
A true Clarkson fan is not a fair weather fan. If you are, then don't come to the games. Don't bring your frustrated angst and negative attitude with you. If you don't know how to cheer for a team, then you don't deserve the privilege of getting free entry into the hockey games as a student anyways. I for one don't want the label of being "disloyal" or "vanishing at the first sign of trouble." I want to be attending the game when the team turns this thing around and rises back up to the prestige of Clarkson hockey.
Clarkson Athletics' website reiterates Clarkson's renowned history in NCAA Division I hockey over the past 88 years. "Overall Clarkson, which became the fastest Division I college hockey team to compile 1,000 victories, and one of only a few to reach the elite mark, has compiled a highly successful [1,298-723-121] record…the Knights have participated in 20 NCAA Tournaments, including three championship games, won 10 ECAC Hockey Regular Season titles, skated away with five ECAC Tournament championship trophies and have showcased some of the greatest student-athletes to ever play college hockey."

Are you nuts? In division 1 hockey, winning is IT. It IS coaching. It IS lack of talent.
Recruiting IS it. You sound like a mommy coaching a t-ball player. (Continued…)

Is is not all of the above it is a little of everything. However, it can be corrected. What this team needs is to be healthy and have some grit.

I absolutley agree with the author of this article. It isn't the coaches, George and Greg are great coaches! It is not lack of talent on the players part! It is not the recruiters! Of course we are all disappointed, but only bc we know our team is the best! There is no room for "fair weather fans" at Clarkson. (Continued…)
