The Women's Hockey team lost to SLU, 4-2 in a mid-week game on Tuesday February 2.

The Clarkson Women's Hockey team traveled to Appleton Arena on Tuesday, February 2, to face Clarkson's arch rival, St. Lawrence University.

Lauren Dahm, the regular goaltender for the Lady Knights, was ill and unable to play in this game. Freshman, goaltender, Kelsey Neumann saw her first game of the season, apart from the exhibition game in September.

In the first period of play, the Saints managed to shoot the puck past Neumann three times, while Clarkson only managed one goal.

St. Lawrence opened the scoring at 7:23 in the first period with a power play goal by freshman, Brooke Fernandez, with sophomore, Alley Bero and senior, Assistant Captain Courtney Sawchuk earning the assists. Bero, assisted by senior, Vanessa Emond, scored a goal of her own at 13:35 in the first period.

St. Lawrence freshman, Jamie Goldsmith scored the third goal for the Saints at 14:48 in the first period. Goldsmith was assisted by Sawchuk and junior, defenseman Lauren Brozowski.

Upon the start of the game, St. Lawrence was 25 for 25 on the penalty kill in 2010; however, junior, forward Melissa Waldie scored a power play goal at 19:17 in the first period which destroyed the Saints perfect penalty kill record. Waldie was assisted by senior, forward Dominique Thibault and sophomore, forward Juana Baribeau.

The Knights out-shot the Saints 10-5 in the second period; however, both teams were unable to get the puck to the back of the net.

Freshman, Kayla Sullivan scored the final goal for the Saints at 5:41 in the third period, lifting the Saints lead to 4-1. Sullivan was assisted by junior, defenseman Michelle Zimmerman and Sawchuk.

Baribeau scored the second and final goal for the Knights at 18:57 in the third period. Despite the strong effort at the end Clarkson was unable to recover from the three goals scored by St. Lawrence in the first period.

The Knights dropped to 13-2-1 in the conference, and the Saints remain unbeaten by Clarkson on home ice since the women's hockey program began.
